DELHI UNIVERSITY MOOT COURT SOCIETY TERMINATES DEPUTY TREASURER OVER MISCONDUCT
A LEGACY OF LEGAL EDUCATION AT LAW CENTRE–II Established as part of the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, Law Centre–II has played a vital role in shaping the future of Indian legal professionals. Located at Umang Bhawan, North Campus, it offers LL.B. programs under the three-year course structure, designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of legal principles, court practices, and jurisprudence. The Centre is widely respected for its academic rigor, vibrant student culture, and commitment to nurturing advocacy skills through platforms such as the Moot Court Society, which provides experiential learning beyond classrooms.
TERMINATION OF DEPUTY TREASURER ANNOUNCED On September 2, 2025, the Moot Court Society of Law Centre–II issued a notice announcing the immediate termination of Mr. Pranav Mittal, Deputy Treasurer. He has been removed from all posts, responsibilities, and association with the Society. The notice was signed by Prof. (Dr.) Vageshwari Deswal, Faculty Convenor, and circulated among the student community. REASONS BEHIND THE STRICT ACTION The termination stems from gross indiscipline and deliberate misuse of the Society’s name for personal gain. The notice stated that such behavior is a direct violation of the Society’s ethos and integrity. Additionally, the Moot Court Society reaffirmed that it is a non-political, student-driven academic body and that any attempt to link its name with political activities or unauthorized programs amounts to serious misconduct. MESSAGE TO THE STUDENT COMMUNITY The decision sends a clear and uncompromising message to the student body: integrity and discipline form the foundation of academic and co-curricular life at Law Centre–II. Students were warned not to be misled by unofficial events conducted under the Society’s banner and were reminded that all legitimate activities will be notified only through proper institutional channels. The action underscores the Society’s zero tolerance for misconduct and its firm resolve to protect the values of academic excellence, integrity, and fairness. CONCLUSION Through this termination, Law Centre–II has demonstrated its commitment to upholding discipline and safeguarding its reputation. The decision not only preserves the credibility of the Moot Court Society but also reinforces a vital lesson: in the pursuit of legal education and advocacy, ethics and responsibility remain non-negotiable.
