Key Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Enrolment of Advocates:
The Bar Council of Delhi enrolls law graduates who wish to practice law in Delhi. Once enrolled, advocates are licensed to practice before various courts, including the Delhi High Court and lower courts.

2. Regulation of Professional Conduct:
It sets standards for professional conduct and etiquette among advocates. Disciplinary action can be taken against advocates for professional misconduct, including suspension or disbarment from practice.
	
3.Legal Education and Training:
The Bar Council plays a role in promoting legal education by accrediting law schools and conducting exams like the All India Bar Examination (AIBE). It may also organize seminars, workshops, and training sessions for advocates to keep them updated with legal developments.
	
4.Welfare Activities:
The Council is involved in various welfare activities for its members, such as offering financial assistance, insurance schemes, and providing funds for legal aid.
	
5.Grievance Redressal:
It handles grievances and disputes between advocates and their clients or among advocates. The Bar Council of Delhi has a Disciplinary Committee to investigate complaints and take appropriate action.
	
6.Election and Representation:
The Bar Council of Delhi consists of elected members who represent the interests of advocates practicing in the state. These elections are held periodically, and members are chosen by practicing advocates.

Structure:

•Chairman and Vice-Chairman: Elected from among its members, the Chairman is the head of the Council, and the Vice-Chairman assists in managing its operations.
	
•Committees: There are various committees, such as the disciplinary committee, legal aid committee, and enrolment committee, that oversee different aspects of the Bar Council’s functioning.

Relation to Bar Council of India:

The Bar Council of Delhi operates autonomously but is guided by the rules and policies set by the Bar Council of India, especially in matters like the All India Bar Examination and inter-state transfers of advocates.

In summary, the Bar Council of Delhi plays a vital role in regulating the legal profession, ensuring the welfare of advocates, and maintaining the integrity of legal practice in Delhi.
