Vacancy for Research Assistant Position (Rs.16,000/- Stipend) at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU)
A walk-in-interview is tentative scheduled on 04th July, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. onwards in the Department of Human Rights, School of Legal Studies, BBAU, Lucknow for the selection of One Research Assistant to work on purely time-bound UPHRC sponsored project. The appointment of a Research Assistant for the project will be full-time and strictly temporary, lasting two months. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) is a central university located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. Established in 1996, it is named after Dr. B.R. The Uttar Pradesh Human Rights Commission (UPHRC) is a statutory body established to promote and protect human rights in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. Human rights, as defined by the commission, include rights relating to life, liberty, equality, and dignity guaranteed by the Indian Constitution or embodied in international covenants and enforceable by courts in India. Key functions and responsibilities of UPHRC include: 1. Investigations: Investigate complaints of human rights violations or negligence in preventing such violations by public servants. 2. Recommendations: Recommend measures to the government for improving the human rights situation in the state, including steps for the prosecution of violators. 3. Visits to Institutions: Inspect jails, detention centers, and other institutions where people are detained or lodged for purposes of treatment, reformation, or protection to ensure the humane treatment of inmates. 4. Research and Education: Undertake and promote research in the field of human rights, organize seminars and workshops, and spread human rights literacy among various sections of society. 5. Monitoring: Review factors, including acts of terrorism, that inhibit the enjoyment of human rights and recommend appropriate remedial measures. The UPHRC operates independently and can summon individuals, request reports, and take any necessary action to address human rights issues in the state. The commission also works in collaboration with non-governmental organizations and other civil society actors to foster a culture of human rights and dignity.
