Government Summer Internship for Law Students at Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) 2024

What is DSLSA?

Delhi State Legal Services Authority was constituted under the Provision of Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. This Authority provides free Legal Aid to the weaker section of the society and has the responsibility to spread Legal Awareness by holding various activities in Schools, Police Stations, Residential Societies and other appropriate forums.

ABOUT DELHI STATE LEGAL SERVICES AUTHORITY’S SCOPE OF SERVICES:

Provide free and competent legal aid and services by advising on legal aspects and assigning lawyers to following categories:
1. SC or ST
2. Victim of trafficking or begar
3. Women or Child
4. Person with disabilities
5. Victim of Mass Disaster / Ethnic Violence / Caste Atrocity / Flood / Earthquake or Industrial disaster
6. Industrial Workmen
7. In Custody / Protective Home / Juvenile Home / Psychiatric Hospital / Psychiatric Nursing Home
8. Person having annual income less than Rs. 3 Lac
9. Senior Citizen having annual income less than Rs. 4 Lac
10. Transgender annual income less than Rs. 4 Lac
11. Acid Attack Victim
12. Person infected and affected with HIV AIDS
13. Runs Helpline Number 1516 to give quick and easy access to legal advice and services.
14. Runs a Whatsapp Number : 9667992802 for the Victims of Domestic Violence
15. Conduct Legal Service Clinics
16. Conducts Lok Adalats, Special Lok Adalats and Permanent Lok Adalats
17. Conducts Legal awareness Programmes for general masses.
18. Conducts Pre-Institution Mediation in Commercial Matters
19. Granting compensation to the victims under the Delhi Victims Compensation Scheme 2018


GOVERNMENT SUMMER INTERNSHIP FOR LAW: Law students from various Indian law universities and colleges are invited to apply online for the Delhi State Legal Services Authority's (DSLSA) Summer Internship Program-2024. DSLSA is working tirelessly to achieve "Access to Justice for all" through its "Sewa Samadhan Samarpan" initiative. Through DSLSA, people can work in a multicultural atmosphere and enhance their legal abilities while contributing fresh viewpoints, creative ideas, and up-to-date research experiences to this Authority.

The goal of the internship program is to give participants first-hand knowledge of the Authority's daily operations by putting them in close proximity to our society's grassroots level and giving them practical experience with legal issues that affect the general public. This is a rare chance to observe how the Free Legal Aid System operates and how many stakeholders interact with one another to guarantee that the underprivileged segments of society are made aware of the government's various welfare program and how DSLSA and NALSA operate.

DSLA cordially invite driven legal students to work with us if they are self-starting and fervent about assisting the underprivileged in society. Students with a positive attitude, empathy, and social activity are encouraged to work for various sectors of society. 





APPLY ONLINE: Students can apply online for Summer Internship Program -2024 through DSLSA's official website i.e. www.dslsa.org. 01.05.2024 Onwards.

SKILLS REQUIRED: Efficiency in written Communication (English), Legal writing, Basic legal knowledge, Computer Operation in Word/Excel/PPT.

LAST DATE : Last date for submission of applications is 15.05.2024 till 5PM. Application should be submitted with scanned copy of Identity Card issued from College/University & passport size photograph of the applicant along with recommendation letter issued by principal/HOD of Law Department. In case desired documents are not attached, then application will not be considered. & a Statement of Purpose for doing internship written by the Student/Applicant himself/herself in max. 70 words.

SELECTION PROCESS: Students will be shortlisted and selected on the basis of their expression of interest through the Statement of Purpose submitted with the application and draw of lots, if more than required applications are received. The shortlisted students will be informed about the same.

LAST DATE FOR GIVING WILLINGNESS: Students shall however send a confirmation e-mail @ legallitwing-dslsa@nicin of their participation in Internship Program positively latest by 30th May, 2024, failing which their application is liable to be rejected.

PERIOD OF INTERNSHIP: 04.06.2024 to 24.06.2024.

1. District Courts (Civil & Criminal side);
2. Family Courts;
3. Special Courts dealing with cases under Section 138 N.LAct;
4. Mediation Centre;
5. Labour Courts & Tribunals including Armed Forces Tribunal, Debt Recovery

TRIBUNAL, MCD APPELLATE TRIBUNAL, CONSUMER FORUMS ETC.; Outreach Activities
6. Door to Door Campaign in Districts;
7. Legal Services Clinics;

CHILD CARE INSTITUTIONS
8. Observation Homes for Juveniles;
9. Juvenile Justice Boards;
10. Children Homes & Child Welfare Committees;
JAIL & POLICE STATIONS
11. Tihar or Rohini Jails;
12. Police Stations/Forensic Science Laboratory;
